Peter Van Aelst is Professor of Political Communication at the University of Antwerp, and a founding member of the research group ‘Media, Movements and Politics’ (www.M2P.be).
He studies the relationship between politicians, journalists and citizens in the digital age. He has published extensively on election campaigns, agenda setting, political news and the interactions between journalists and politicians. His current research focusses on political knowledge and disinformation in comparative perspective. Between 2016 and 2018, he was the Chair of the Political Communication Division of the ICA.
