Peter Van Aelst is Professor of Political Communication at the University of Antwerp, and a founding member of the research group ‘Media, Movements and Politics’ (www.M2P.be).
He studies the relationship between politicians, journalists and citizens in the digital age. He has published extensively on election campaigns, agenda setting, political news and the interactions between journalists and politicians. His current research focuses on political knowledge and misbeliefs in comparative perspective. He is involved in several projects that focus on mapping and combatting misinformation.
