Agnieszka Stępińska

Agnieszka Stępińska, PhD hab., is Professor at the Faculty of Political Science and Journalism at the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań. Her main areas of research are political communication and journalism studies. She participated in several international research projects, including the NORFACE project: “THREATPIE: The Threats and Potentials of a Changing Political Information Environment”(2020-2023). She led an international research group studying “Media Coverage of the Polish EU Presidency” (2010-2013), and a national team working on populist political communication in Poland (2016-2020). She acted as a vice-chair of work group 2 in COST Action IS1308 on “Populist Political Communication in Europe” (2014-2018).

Currently, she is involved in the COST Action CA21129 – “What are Opinions? Integrating Theory and Methods for Automatically Analyzing Opinionated Communication” (OPINION), where she acts as a chair of WG1. She also leads a national research team contributing to “Journalistic Role Performance” project. She serves as a chair of the ECREA Political Communication section and an executive editor of the Central European Journal of Communication.
