Václav Štětka (Czech Republic)
Václav Štětka is Lecturer in Communication and Media Studies at the Department of Social Sciences, Loughborough University, since 2016. He worked as Research Fellow at University of Oxford between 2009 and 2013, and then as Head of the Political Communication Research Group (PolCoRe) at Charles University in Prague.
In his research, he focuses on the impact of the Internet and social media on political communication and journalism, particularly with regard to issues of disinformation and trust to news media. Apart from that, he also investigates contemporary transformations of media systems in Central and Eastern Europe, especially the changing ownership structures and their impact on media freedom and autonomy. He is Vice-Chair of the Political Communication Section of ECREA (European Communication Research and Education Association) and participates in several international research projects and networks, such as the Digital News Report (University of Oxford) or Media Pluralism Monitor (European University Institute).
