Peter Van Aelst is an associate professor of political science at the University of Antwerp (Belgium) and founding member of the research group ‘Media, Movements and Politics’ (M2P).
His research focuses on election campaigns, social movements and political communication. He has published on these topics in journals as Political Communication, International Journal of Press/politics, Acta Politica, Comparative Politics, Journal of Communication, European Journal of Political Research etc. In 2009 and 2010 he was an assistant professor of political psychology and political communication at Leiden University, the Netherlands. He still has a research position (20%) at Leiden University to coordinate the VIDI-project on Media and Politics in comparative perspective.
