José Santana Pereira (Portugal)

José Santana Pereira is Assistant Professor at the Department of Political Science and Public Policy, ISCTE-Lisbon University Institute, and Researcher at CIES-Lisbon University Institute. He received his PhD in Political and Social Sciences from the European University Institute in 2012, and worked as researcher in the Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies and the Institute of Social Sciences, University of Lisbon. He was visiting researcher at the Central European University, University of Oxford, and GESIS in Cologne. He is one of the researchers in charge of the European Media Systems Survey, and he is involved in the Varieties of Democracy project and various studies on voting advice applications.

His research focuses on media systems, media effects on public opinion, campaigns, and voting behaviour. He published several papers and book chapters in peer-reviewed journals such as Journal of European Public Policy, Electoral Studies, South European Society and Politics, Pole Sud, Portuguese Journal of Social Sciences, or in books published by Oxford University Press, Springer, or Routledge.
